LR Discovery 3 vs. Jeep Commander

a3I think DNA humanity - and each of us - contains several segments that are engraved law and transcendent experiences. That information allows us to better reporting from the start to what we
surrounds. Somewhat limits can force common sense, but I’m sure there in the transcendent, are printed and the name of Jeep and Land Rover. The first thing you learn when it comes to a jeep is that it is called the Jeep and then it looks either like a Wrangler or a Defender.

At first glance, what we have achieved in November may seem a simple balancing test, but the reality is more than that. That is a tribute to two builders who have made and have come to mean the collective consciousness when it comes to car phenomenon. Land Rover Discovery and Jeep Commander III is the last “verbalization” of an experience “on the ground” over 60 years.

Discovery III is not new, aflîndu market is sufficient time to be forgotten classic recipe to build a real jeep. Has shown that pets can make good electronic nature. New Discovery is not a mere toy for the high-tech avenues. On the contrary, not because nothing has “swallowed” in design than 6 million miles of hard testing, a striking result is the new Terrain Response system, which combines electronics and mechanics in an effective manner. The knob between the seats, you can select five modes of operation of all engine-transmission-systems
electronic assistance, depending on your field that is running.

Discovery’s strengths are “clever dwarves” of electronic systems that hinder wheels and distribute power so the car comes to shore slowly and surely. Two and a half tons is too much, although the technical solution chosen is innovative chassis. Called the Integrated Body-frame, so Discovery’s concept gives a separate chassis robustness (with rails and sleepers), as well as specific stiffness of a self-supporting body. It’s basically a semişasiu modeled by hidroformatare (high pressure injection of oil - which replaced presses process and leads to complex geometric forms). Paved or gravel roads, Land Rover has a remarkably safe behavior at high speeds. Within the limits of physics, of course, that means weight machine in fast turns, high inertia. If we buy all the Discovery III, we would not be a ministry that we paved streets.

Premium luxury level rises (but not series devices): leather, navigation system with touch screen, directional xenon headlights, Harman-Kardon audio system, etc.. Just so that Land Rover engineers have preferred to give them something more soldierly appearance, with roots in the heritage of the brand aesthetic, but with a quality level close to his Range Rover. Soundproofing suffers at higher speeds, but because of aerodynamic turbulence, not the modern diesel engine. This is identical to the Jaguar SType and was adapted for use in difficult conditions: power was reduced but torque has been increased considerably, which is seen to approach very inclined slopes (and not kidding when we say “very”) or other problem situations on land, where it takes most of the resources thruster.

Consumption is a sensitive, less than ten liters per hundred kilometers, but it seems normal to us, considering that I spared no car (not given Discovery aside from the gravel run even 100 km / h - other SUVs would quickly go from suffering from “rheumatism”). Those who rear seat passengers will enjoy the generous height vertically, especially in bumpy taken speed seat when “off.”

Super roof is a distinctive feature of Discovery’s still the first generation, allowing placement of two chairs in the trunk (missing in our model …). Access to that luggage is a dual asymmetric tailgate, interesting and quite practical in appearance. Moreover, even if spare wheel is now in the trunk, through the mirror you think that all the tailgate is as old Discovery due decupării glass. SUV British managed to overcome its reluctance across the electronics, but can we really call it SUV? Or is it rather an off-roader
e - the most successful of them?
