Jaguar and Land Rover have announced a partnership with Torotrak to implement the system Kers already known for his forthcoming debut in Formula 1. The Tata-owned brands will be equipped in future with this technology, although of course the application will have a different objective than that of pure performance.
The hybrid system will be a mechanic, with an infinitely variable transmission (IVT) and a flywheel that accumulates kinetic energy during braking, acceleration in reusing. This will lower consumption and emissions, even using small propellers and continuing downsizing of the work that is now spreading. Jaguar is also taking forward the project of a hybrid plug-in, in addition to a general expansion of the existing range, as suggested XF station wagon.
